Yesterday was a perfect day for planting -- sunny during the day and rain due in the evening!
The day before we had purchased 4 new climbing roses and 4 clematis vines, from Story's Nursery, to add to our flowering fence at the entrance to our pool. (The pool is still in the process of being readied for opening.)
This year we added clematis to the left side of the fence, as well as one climbing rose. Last year, remember, we used Morning Glories to fill in the spaces to which we would later add perennials.
On the right side of the fence, all of the climatis vines we planted last year survived the winter and rabbits. To this side, we added 3 climbing roses. I had to move two of the clematis vines to make room for the roses, which we hope will grow to a massive size!
Once the fence planting was done, I zipped over to Story's to pick up some Zinnias, Marigolds, and herbs.
In the long planter in front of the carriage house, I planted pink and pink & white zinnias.
Next on the planting agenda was the newly expanded herb garden. First I worked in a large bag of peat moss to the new section to improve the soil. Then I planted two types of marigold (large and small), the remaining zinnias, English Thyme, Lemon Thyme, and two red pepper plants. There is still a couple spaces for additional herbs.
Already growing in the herb garden is Lemon Balm, Sage, Oregano, Garlic Chives, and Mint.
Then I planted a Rosemary and another Lemon Thyme in a couple of pots on the steps near the kitchen door.
Once the planting was done it was time for a stroll around the grounds to enjoy the landscape and take pictures!
I miss it there :-)
